“Sandy Dean’s Schooldays” (originally “Sandy Dean’s First Term”) was a strip that ran in Lion, drawn by Barry Nelson.
The strip’s appeal lay partly in the early drawings which successfully depicted Sandy in something of a action hero mould: very good looking and also intelligent and compassionate. These qualities were further highlighted by being contrasted with mean-spirited bullies such as Bossy Bates and Sandy’s own somewhat nerdy friend, Owl Watson.
Later drawings were not as successful in their visual depiction of Sandy.
